Baby Angell Nursery Projects 3

We received a chair that belonged to Conor's Granny as a child, and we wanted to refinish it for the nursery.  Conor started working on it in January.  He began by using stripper to remove the old green paint.

Last week, Conor applied a couple more coats of stripper and spent many, many hours sanding the chair.  He borrowed an electric sander but also did quite a bit of it by hand.  Conor also tightened the joints since they had become lose over the last 90-plus years.

Here the chair is sanded and ready for the next step.  The oak looked beautiful.

Conor applied 2 coats of Minwax stain in Natural since we wanted to keep the wood pretty true to its natural color.  He followed this with 4 coats of General Finishes Semi-Gloss Poly, a water-based poly that we also used on our headboard.

Baby Angell Nursery Projects

Here are some of the projects that Conor and I have completed for Baby Angell's nursery.  I made the quilt and sewed the birds.  Conor collected and constructed the sticks for the mobile.  We worked together for 3 hours to sew the birds on the sticks so that the mobile would balance.
