Great-Great-Aunt Lil

Last weekend we made the trip to Chicago so that Elias could meet his 93-year-old Great-Great-Aunt Lil.  My mom had warned us that she probably would not want to hold him, which I thought was fine because he is usually pretty wary to be held by unfamiliar people.  However, shortly after we arrived, without saying anything, Aunt Lil slowly made her way to her chair and lowered herself down.  She pushed away her walker, patted her lap, and said, "Put him on my lap!"  So I did, and Elias went right to her.

Aunt Lil has severe arthritis, so she doesn't have a lot of strength in her arms, but I could tell she was holding him as tightly as she could.  At one point, I noticed she wasn't talking as much because it seemed to be taking all her concentration to make sure she had a good grip on him.

Elias was such a content little man. He seemed so at ease just hanging out with his Great-Great-Aunt.

Elias flashed her so many smiles that Aunt Lil kept saying, "He must think my face looks funny!"  She would say, "Hi Baby!" and his face would light up.

Aunt Lil told us several times that he had the brightest eyes of any baby she had ever seen.  She also thought he had the cutest pug nose! :)  She seemed proud of how much hair he had, telling us that her sister's great-great-grandchild is almost two and doesn't have nearly as much hair as he does.

He grabbed onto her hand, and she couldn't believe how strong he is!

He's our Little Man that is so full of joy, and I really think he brought a lot of joy to his Great-Great-Aunt Lil.
